Breaking the fourth wall to find the truth behind the anachronism

#ABOUT

L'insubmersible is an experimental narrative short directed by Paul Marchiset within the intense 48-hour window of the "48h du court métrage." Exploring the tension between destiny and choice, it demanded rigorous organization — moving from concept to final color grade in a single weekend. Working from the assigned theme of Anachronism, I directed a film that opens as a comedic homage to 1920s silent cinema — inspired by Buster Keaton's The General — complete with black-and-white aesthetics and historical irony. It then pivots into a vivid, colorized, fourth-wall-breaking monologue, shifting from lighthearted irony to a deeper philosophical reflection on how our past errors and memories shape our future.
