Starring the film preferences of the IMAC community

The AllocIMAC project was conceived during a web programming workshop. Taking inspiration from the Allociné website, the project aimed to create a platform listing the film preferences of IMAC students. Each participant was invited to complete a survey, sharing their favourite film and genre, thus creating a rich and usable database. The project required a variety of skills, from designing the database architecture to implementing web features. The website enables users to view the top five most popular films, genres, directors and decades, access detailed pages for each item and interact via a user account. An administrator section was also designed to manage all data (students, films, genres and directors), offering the ability to add, modify or delete information. Integrating a REST API also gave the project a professional dimension. Collaboration was at the heart of this workshop. Each team member took charge of an essential aspect, such as data retrieval and processing, setting up the Flask interface, or account management and API adaptation. Sharing these responsibilities enabled us to progress efficiently while maintaining the project's consistency. AllocIMAC thus illustrates the balance between technical rigour, creativity and collective work in creating a complete web application.
