Starring the film preferences of the IMAC community

AllocIMAC is a web application built during a web-programming workshop and inspired by the French film site Allociné. The goal was a platform mapping the film tastes of IMAC students: each participant completed a survey on their favourite film and genre, building a rich, usable database. As team leader and backend developer, Paul Marchiset coordinated the group while building the data layer that powers the platform. The project demanded a broad skill set, from database architecture to web feature development. Users can browse the top five most popular films, genres, directors and decades, open detailed pages for each entry, and interact through a personal account. An admin section manages all data — students, films, genres and directors — with the ability to add, edit or delete records, and a REST API gives the build a professional, scalable dimension. Collaboration was central to the workshop. Each member owned a key area — data retrieval and processing, the Flask interface, or account management and API integration — which kept us efficient and the project coherent. AllocIMAC reflects the balance of technical rigour, leadership and teamwork required to ship a complete web application.
